The little moments are the big ones.

Let's create connection.

You know their
kind of happy.

The invitation to play. The familiar route home. The spot beside you on the sofa.

Wellness starts with paying attention to the dog you love. Their age, their everyday routine, and the little things you notice. At BARKology, that conversation comes first. Then we help you explore a gentle wellness routine that fits.

A space made for their pause

Meet the PAWDS.

Our name for your dog's own little wellness space.

A pod is an individual, glass-fronted space where your dog can settle in for a wellness session. PAWDS is BARKology's name for these pods, equipped for PEMF and red light therapy.

01

A mat beneath them.

The PEMF mat delivers pulsed electromagnetic fields while your dog rests.

02

A light above them.

The overhead panel provides red and near-infrared light without a hands-on treatment.

03

Their comfort comes first.

A gentle introduction, time to settle, and a conversation about what suits your dog.

Two approaches. One thoughtful routine.

Wellness,
without the mystery.

Comfort and easier movement matter at every age. These non-invasive therapies are being studied for their potential to support both. Here's what each one does, and where the evidence stands.

01 · Pulsed electromagnetic field

PEMF therapy.

A mat creates a pulsing magnetic field around the body. Researchers study how these fields may influence cell signaling and the body's response to discomfort.

Why it may matter for your dog

Some canine studies suggest potential benefits for comfort and mobility. It's a promising area to discuss with your veterinarian, especially when moving comfortably has become harder.

Evidence is mixed and depends on the device and protocol. A single session has not consistently shown measurable improvement.

02 · Red + near-infrared light

Red light therapy.

Light is absorbed by cells and can influence their activity. This field of study is called photobiomodulation, or PBM.

Why it may matter for your dog

Veterinary PBM research has reported improvements in pain and joint function under specific treatment protocols. The aim is to support comfort and the movement that makes everyday life enjoyable.

Many positive studies use veterinary lasers. Those results don't establish the same benefits from the LED panels in our PAWDS.

BARKology provides wellness care, not diagnosis or medical treatment. For pain, a new limp, or a change in movement, start with your veterinarian. Results vary; PAWDS sessions are not a substitute for veterinary care.

Can my dog try a session without a membership?

Yes. Individual red light and PEMF sessions start at $25 for 15 minutes. A 30-minute PEMF session is $45. Start with a conversation so we can help you plan the right visit.

Is wellness right for an older or nervous dog?

Tell us about their temperament, mobility, and health history first. We can talk through the space and introduction. If your dog has a medical condition or discomfort, ask your veterinarian whether these modalities are appropriate before booking.

How soon might I notice a difference?

There isn't a reliable timetable we can promise. Research uses different equipment and schedules, and dogs respond differently. Keep track of the everyday things that matter to you and share any changes with your veterinarian.

Can I pair wellness with grooming?

Yes. Ask us about arranging both during a visit. Our current Mini Groom and Full Groom memberships each include one 15-minute wellness therapy session. Compare memberships or explore grooming.

What does the research actually say?

There is encouraging research, alongside important limits. These studies tested specific clinical protocols, not BARKology PAWDS sessions.

Light-based therapy: A 2022 controlled study of 20 dogs with hip osteoarthritis reported improvements in pain and clinical function with a Class IV therapeutic laser. That is different from an overhead LED panel. Alves et al., 2022

PEMF over time: A 2025 placebo-controlled study found improved gait symmetry at day 42; other outcomes were less conclusive. Šutalo et al., 2025

One session: A small 2024 crossover study found no demonstrable immediate improvement in pain or walking performance after a single PEMF treatment. Leung et al., 2024

Device, dose, timing, and your dog's individual needs matter. We offer a comfortable wellness experience and honest guidance, not a guaranteed medical result.
